This is a beautiful (restored by my consvervator)
painting of a young lady ready for her 1st ball…
The colors are amazing as the conservator has cleaned it up substantially and repaired a small tear….She has done an EXCEPTIONAL job of restoring her!

The painting comes with a frame, but no value to the frame, and they tend to fall apart in shipping and need regluing
I am including it to maintain the integrity of the painting and for shipping. If we agree we can just ship the canvas…..but I will leave it up to the buyer.

TREATMENT OVERVIEW Treatment included cleaning, tear repair, loss compensation, retouching, varnishing and backing. Removal of previous fill medium and over paint due to discoloration and brittleness after the removal of discolored varnish layer was necessary. The verso was mechanically cleaned with a HEPA vacuum. The frame under went minimal cosmetic touch ups for visual integration of loss.
Henri Guillaume Schlesinger ( Heinrich Wilhelm Schlesinger in German), born on August 6, 1814 in Frankfurt and died on February 21, 1893 Neuilly-sur-Seine , is a German portrait and genre painter. In addition to oil painting, he used watercolor and miniature painting on ivory.
Schlesinger studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and was first active in Vienna. He then moved to Paris, and continued his artistic education. In the period 1840-1889, he exhibited his work at the Paris Salon . Henri-Guillaume Schlesinger made several official portraits in 1837, including a large equestrian portrait of Sultan Mahmoud II. In the years 1870-1871, he lived in London .
Schlesinger received, in 1866, the Legion of Honor and, in 1870, the French nationality.
